This policy explains how Cate’s Eclectic (“I”, “me”, “my”) collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you book or attend a sound bath session, a cartomancy reading (such as tarot, any oracle or Lenormand), or a workshop, and how it applies to data handled through Acuity Scheduling and my website www.cateasks.com.
I’m committed to handling your information responsibly and in line with UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.1. Who I Am

When you book a session, reading, or workshop through Acuity Scheduling, I collect:
● Your name, phone number, and email address;
● Booking and payment details (processed directly by Acuity/its payment provider. I do not store card details myself); and
● Confirmation that you have self-certified as medically fit to attend and understood the comfort guidance (see Section 3).I do not ask you to disclose specific medical conditions, diagnoses, or health details through the booking form. Instead, you confirm via checkbox that you have consulted your own doctor, if needed, and that you will contact me directly if you wish to discuss anything that might affect your comfort during a session.3. Sound Bath Sessions: Special Category Data
If you contact me by email or other direct messaging to discuss a health condition, phobia, or comfort need ahead of your sound bath session, this counts as “Special Category Data” as defined in the UK GDPR. In this case:
● I only use this information to adapt your session (for example, adjusting volume, instruments, or seating).
● I do not store more detail than I need and I do not share it with anyone else.
● I keep any notes only for as long as needed to prepare for your session and delete them afterward, unless you become a regular client and ask me to retain your preferences.My legal basis for handling this information is your explicit consent, given when you choose to share it with me (UK GDPR Article 9(2)(a)).4. Cartomancy Readings: Special Category Data
Cartomancy readings (such as tarot, oracle, Lenormand and similar) may be delivered in person or online via Zoom. I do not provide cartomancy readings for health matters.
I will send you a written summary of your reading by email and keep a copy of that email as a record of what was discussed. If we agree otherwise (for example, where a reading takes place in person or as a live online session and is not sent to you by email), I do not keep any written record, recording or notes of what was discussed.Because these readings often explore personal topics such as relationships, family, beliefs or life circumstances, anything you choose to share with me during a reading may count as “special category data” under UK GDPR (for example, information about your religious or philosophical beliefs or sexuality).My legal basis for handling this information is your explicit consent, given when you choose to share it with me during a reading (UK GDPR Article 9(2)(a)).5. Workshops
I also run occasional workshops (for example, on ancestor work or other topics) delivered as live group calls via Zoom. Some workshops may also include an in-person element.
When you book a workshop through Acuity Scheduling, I collect your name, email address, and payment details in the same way as for individual sessions (see Section 2).Because workshops are delivered as live group calls, and in some cases in person:● Other participants will be able to see your name and see and hear you if your camera and microphone are on (or see you in person, where applicable);○ Please note, I do not currently record workshop sessions. If this changes, I’ll update this policy and let participants know in advance;● As with sound bath sessions and cartomancy readings, any personal information you disclose during a workshop is used only for the duration of that workshop and is not retained afterwards; and● If you choose to share personal information during group discussion (for example, about your family or beliefs), this will be visible to other participants as well as to me, so please only share what you’re comfortable disclosing in a group setting.My legal basis for processing your registration information is that it’s necessary to perform our contract (i.e. to deliver the workshop you’ve booked).6. Why I Use Your Information
I use your personal information to:● Manage your booking and send confirmations or reminders;● Contact you in an emergency;● Tailor a session, reading, or workshop to your needs, where you’ve told me about them; and● Meet legal and accounting obligations (e.g. record-keeping for tax purposes).My legal basis for most of this processing is that it’s necessary to perform our contract (i.e. to deliver the session, reading, or workshop you’ve booked) or my legitimate interest in running my business efficiently.7. Who I Share Information With
I use the following third-party services, which process data on my behalf:● Acuity Scheduling for bookings, payments, and intake form responses;● Zoom for online cartomancy readings and workshop delivery;● www.kit.com for my website; and
● Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook) for email.These providers are contractually required to protect your data and only use it as instructed. I do not sell or share your information with anyone for marketing purposes. I willdisclose your information where required to do so by law or where necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.8. How Long I Keep Your Information
I keep booking and contact information for as long as needed to provide my services and meet legal obligations (typically up to 6 years for financial records, in line with HMRC requirements).Any health-related information you’ve shared directly with me about a sound bath session is deleted once it’s no longer needed for your session or sessions,unless you ask me to retain it for future bookings.Where I’ve sent you a written summary of a cartomancy reading by email, I keep a copy of that email in line with my normal email retention, unless we’ve agreed otherwise. Any other information disclosed during a cartomancy reading or a workshop is used only for the duration of that session and is not retained afterwards, beyond your booking and contact details.9. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:● Access the personal information I hold about you;● Ask me to correct inaccurate information;● Ask me to delete your information;● Object to, or restrict how, I use your information; and● Withdraw consent at any time, where I’m relying on consent (e.g. health information or reading and workshop discussions you’ve shared).To exercise any of these rights, contact me using the details in Section 1.If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your data, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.10. Cookies and Analytics
My website uses basic cookies for site functionality. It does not use onward tracking or advertising cookies.11. Third-Party Websites
My website may contain links to other websites, such as my Acuity booking page or social media profiles. I’m not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these external sites. Once you leave my website, I’d encourage you to review the privacy policy of any site you visit.12. Security
I take reasonable steps to protect your personal information, including relying on reputable third-party providers (such as Acuity and Zoom) who maintain their own security standards for the data they process on my behalf. Please be aware that no method of transmission or storage over the internet is 100% secure and I can’t guarantee absolute security.13. Business Transfer
If my business is ever sold, transferred, or merged with another business, your personal information may be transferred as part of that process. I’ll ensure any new owner is bound to handle your data in line with this policy, or notify you of any material changes.14. Mailing List
If you choose to sign up to my mailing list, I collect your name and email address to send you occasional updates, such as upcoming sessions, readings, workshops, or offers. I use Kit and Microsoft Outlook to manage this list and send emails.My legal basis for this is your consent, given when you sign up. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email, or by contacting me directly using the details in Section 1. Unsubscribing won’t affect any booking confirmations or reminders you receive as part of an existing booking, since those are sent on a different legal basis (contract, not consent).15. Changes to this Policy
